Syncline Community Cable

Syncline Energy is proposing a 265 km, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) underground transmission line connecting the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub (MREH) to north western Victoria.

Grazing land

Doing transmission differently

The Syncline Community Cable (SCC) is a new approach to reinforce Victoria’s electricity network and provide more reliable power, with less impact to communities along the way.

The proposed cable would start at the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub (MREH) at Plumpton, running approximately 100 km in the median strip of the Calder Freeway to Ravenswood, then cross 165 km of private cropping and grazing land to its terminus near Jeffcott.

Community Trust

In addition to the usual compensation and payments, landowners are offered the opportunity to participate in a unique Community Trust arrangement, offering a stake in the project and benefiting financially from its success.

Part of the Trust will be allocated for community projects and will be distributed by an appropriately constituted committee of involved landowners and independent members.
